Whether you’re just pickin’ up the guitar again after a break, giggin’ with your band on weekends, or strummin’ for the sheer joy of it—I want to make sure your instrument feels just right. No buzz, no struggle, just smooth playin’ and a sound that puts a smile on your face.
At Bear Guitar Setups, I keep things simple and honest:
I’m not a big shop, and I’m not claimin’ to be some world-famous tech. I’m just a local lad who cares about doin’ right by people and their instruments. I take pride in the work, and I treat every guitar like it’s my own.
So if yours is needin’ a bit of TLC, send me an email—I’ll do my best to get it playin’ sweet again.
You’re not alone, butt. Most guitars—aye, even the expensive ones—don’t come properly set up out the box. And over time, they all start to go a bit off, whether it’s from the weather, a bit of wear and tear, or just not bein’ dialled in when you first got it. Maybe it’s not playin’ like it used to. Maybe the sound’s gone dull, or it just doesn’t feel right anymore.
And I know—when your guitar’s fightin’ back, it takes the joy out of playin’, doesn’t it? Buzzin’ frets, dodgy intonation—it can be downright frustratin’. And the longer it’s left, the worse it tends to get.
That’s where Bear Guitar Setups comes in.
I’m here to help your guitar play the way it should—smooth, easy, and tuned just the way you like it. Whether it’s a basic setup, replacin’ worn parts, or addin’ a few upgrades, I’ll get your instrument feelin’ spot-on again.
You deserve a guitar that’s a joy to play—comfortable, reliable, and soundin’ just right. That’s what I’m here for. Let’s get it sorted.

When you bring your guitar to me, I give it a proper going over—no rush, no shortcuts, just steady hands and careful attention to detail. Here’s how I go about it:
Have a Good Look First – I start by givin’ your guitar a full inspection. I check for any obvious issues and get a feel for its overall condition—what’s workin’, what’s not, and what might need a tweak.
Neck Adjustment – I’ll check the truss rod and make sure the neck’s got just the right bit of relief—keeps the strings from buzzin’ and makes the guitar a lot comfier to play.
Bridge Height & Action – I fine-tune the string height where it counts. For acoustics, that’s around the 12th fret. For electrics and basses, we go up around the 17th. It’s all about gettin’ that balance between comfort and good tone.
Volume & Tone Pots – I give the knobs a good clean, get rid of any scratchy sounds, and tighten anything that’s come a bit loose. If anything looks like it might cause trouble down the line, I’ll let you know.
Fret Cleaning & Polish – Frets get a clean and a bit of a polish to make sure they shine and play smooth as anything. It really does make a difference.
Fretboard Care – I clean the fretboard and oil it up if it’s the right type of wood—rosewood, pau ferro, ebony and such. Keeps it healthy and lookin’ lovely.
New Strings & Tuning – I pop a fresh set of strings on, tune it up proper, and lubricate the nut so the strings move freely and stay in tune.
Tuners & Screws – I check all the tuning machines and body screws—tighten up anything that’s worked itself loose over time. Helps with tuning stability and stops any odd rattles.
Pickup Height – I check and adjust the pickups so you’re gettin’ the best out of your sound—good balance and clear tone.
Intonation – I sort the intonation so your guitar sounds in tune right across the fretboard, not just open chords.
Final Clean – Bit of a polish and tidy-up so it looks as nice as it feels.
Play Test – Lastly, I give it a good strum myself. I check for any lingering buzz or dead spots, make sure it feels right, and if anything’s off—I’ll sort it before it leaves my bench.
